Tier 4 visa extension for Chinese students proposed

The National Union of Students (NUS) has called for an automatic extension of Tier 4 visa issued to Chinese students pursuing education in the UK amongst other measures to help them during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak has caused significant disruption to classrooms across the world and several institutions within the UK have closed campuses as well.

International students, particularly Chinese students, find themselves in problematic circumstances with exam postponements, closure of student housing facilities, and the issue of their Tier 4 student visas running out.

Over 37,500 Indian students received UK study visas in 2019, a 93% increase from last year’s number.

The latest UK Immigration Statistics, which was published last week, revealed that this is the largest number of UK study visas which have been issued to Indian students across the previous eight years.

This rise denotes the continuation of the strong upward trend in UK student visa numbers for Indians, which has continued to grow since 2016.

Study in London twice as popular with foreign students than UK students

Foreign students are almost twice as likely to apply to a London university or college compared to students applying from the UK, finds UCAS report.

UCAS’ 2019 International Insights report, the most detailed ever undertaken by the organisation, revealed the global appeal of UK universities.

The study found that applications from foreign students to study in UK rose by 5.2% to a record 140,955.

Proodle Solutions has launched a university enrolment app for that it claims will transform the international student enrolment experience for both higher education marketing and recruitment teams.

Launched in 2017, Proodle Solutions is comprised of an international team who faced many problems when they applied to study in the UK.

These problems included a lack of personalisation in marketing materials, slow communication with recruitment teams and difficulty in finding information.
