Ryerson and Navitas launch Ryerson University International College

Ryerson University and Navitas are joining forces to launch Ryerson University International College (RUIC) in Toronto, Canada.

Ryerson University has announced a long-term partnership with pathway and vocational education provider Navitas with the aim of broadening access for international students and enabling more learning opportunities for students on campus.

The partnership is said to help Ryerson University actualise its internationalisation agenda and the diversification of its student population as well as enhancing academic provisions and students’ performance.

Reflecting on the development, Mohamed Lachemi, President and Vice Chancellor of Ryerson University, said: “This partnership with Navitas marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Ryerson that will better position the University to broaden its global perspectives and enrich the learning experiences for international and domestic students alike.

“Together we will prepare all Ryerson students for success after graduation by building cross-cultural competencies inside and outside of the classroom, while also providing more opportunities for faculty and staff to build their own skill sets, to expand their connections, and to create new collaborations around the world.”

Ryerson University International College will provide pathway to the university

The Navitas and Ryerson University partnership will see the introduction of a undergraduate pathway program for international students, an avenue for a smooth transition into a Canadian University.

The new pathway institution will be called Ryerson University International College (RUIC) and its program will provide academic course content, skills development, social, and academic support.

RUIC disclosed that students who complete the RUIC first-year program successfully will be eligible to continue their degree studies in their second year at Ryerson University. The University will retain control of all aspects of the RUIC academic program.

Great ‘opportunity’ for international higher education student coming to Canada

Commenting on the partnership, Dr Brian JR Stevenson, President and CEO of Navitas North America, said: “With the launch of Ryerson University International College, even more students from around the globe will have the opportunity to pursue their higher education goals at a leading Canadian university.

“We look forward to supporting students as they commence their studies at RUIC in the coming months and welcoming them to Toronto once borders safely re-open.”

As part of its internationalisation strategy and 2020-2025 academic plan, RUIC will extend the Ryerson brand into key countries worldwide through Navitas’ extensive network of marketing staff in over 30 global offices.

The announcement said the 10-year partnership with Navitas will “leverage its international network and track record of academic success” to bolster Ryerson’s ambition.
