Club Med and emlyon Business School announce partnership

France’s emlyon Business School has forged a formal partnership with global hospitality and holiday resort company Club Med to progress hospitality research.

The partnership between France’s emlyon and Club Med will focus specifically on research activities, pedagogy and executive education.

As part of their drive to progress research, professors and researchers from the emlyon Lifestyle Research Centre will undertake ethnographic research to address key issues for Club Med.

Second Indo-French Knowledge Summit to be held in Lyon

The second Indo-French Knowledge Summit is to take place at the Universite de Lyon in France. The summit’s focus is to be higher education, research and innovation.

This contributes to the continued enhancement of education cooperation between the two nations that we reported on in August this year.

Organised by the Embassy of France in India in partnership with Universite de Lyon, Campus France, and Emlyon Business School on the French side, and the Ministries of Science and Technology and Human Resource Development (MHRD) on the Indian side, the event will be inaugurated by ministers from both French and Indian governments.

France court rules against tuition fees rise for foreign students

The constitutional court of France has ruled against increasing tuition fees for non-EU foreign students, which would have seen fees rise over ten times for some courses.

France’s Conseil Constitutionnel (constitutional court) has ruled that free access to public higher education is a constitutional right in France.

This helps to protect foreign students coming to France for their education against a proposed tuition fees hike.

France and India to enhance education cooperation

France and India have indicated their desire to enhance their education cooperation following in-depth talks between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron.

This comes after our earlier report that France intend to double Indian student numbers by 2025.

Both countries expressed that they were satisfied by the status of student mobility between the two countries, which has been aided by the teaching of French in India and the creation of the network of schools for Excellence in French.

Legrand India UGAM scholarship supports Indian students in France

Legrand India has this month announced the second batch of 25 deserving students for its Legrand India UGAM scholarship programme, Business World Education revealed.

The scholarship programme was launched in association with the Franco-Indian Education Trust (part of the French Embassy in India) with the support of Whiteswan Consulting Group.

Through the UGAM scholarship programme, Legrand India hopes to promote quality education and assist deserving students in pursuing their Masters degrees in France in recognised disciplines.

ARTE to ramp up Educ’ARTE to reach more students in Europe

ARTE France is looking to ramp up the development of its Educ’ARTE initiative in a bid to expand the offer to more students in Europe.

In a statement posted on its website in June, the French government said that ARTE France is set to provide new versions of services for Educ’ARTE in order to reach students in primary to tertiary schools in Europe. It is also taking part in discussions on a common educational offer from public broadcasters.

France seeks to double Indian student numbers by 2025 to over 20,000 from only 400 in 2009.

Driven by easier visa regulations and the opportunity to work in-country after graduation, the number of Indian students in France has sharply risen from just 400 ten years ago to an expected 10,000 by the end of 2019.
