Popular social media app TikTok has announced that Edutok, its knowledge-based campaigns in India, has been seeing a positive response since its inception at the start of summer 2019.

In this time, the Edutok campaign on TikTok India has been consistently trending with over 42.5 billion views in total, reports the Economic Times (India).

The Edutok campaign in India, identified by the use of the hashtag #EduTok, was launched with the intent to empower TikTok users to create meaningful and inspiring content around various themes.

Delhi Skills and Entrepreneurship University to be set up

The Delhi government is poised to set up a Delhi Skills and Entrepreneurship University in a bid to equip youth with market-relevant skills, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced last week.

Speaking at a press conference earlier this month, Kejriwal had stated: “The main focus of the university will be to provide employment to the maximum number of students. Its performance will be assessed by seeing the level of employment that its students get.”

At the event, Kejriwal said that the Delhi Skills and Entrepreneurship University will initially have an intake of approximately 50,000 students and will offer programs on different entry levels such as Class 10th, 12th, graduation or part-time.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) of India has asked all Indian universities that have entered into any student or faculty exchange pact with a counterpart in China to not undertake any activities until the Ministry of Home Affairs gives the go ahead.

UGC secretary Rajnish Jain stated in a letter issued to the vice chancellors of all universities that those varsities which have already entered into a pact with a Chinese university must attain clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs for operating any agreement and until this clearance is obtained, no activities should be performed.

32 new scholarships worth Rupees 8.2 million have been announced to encourage Indians to study in New Zealand.

Called the ‘New Zealand Excellence Award’ scholarship programme, the initiative was championed by Education New Zealand (ENZ).

Grant McPherson, Chief Executive of ENZ, said: “The New Zealand Excellence Award scholarship programme is beneficial for both countries.

“It helps Indian students pursue a range of specialist programmes in areas such as STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), business and creative arts at New Zealand universities. Already over 100 talented Indian students have benefitted from these scholarships.”
