The Indian Embassy held an event last week to discuss opportunities for Cambodian students to study in India.

The study in India event for Cambodian students was held at the University of Management and Economics (UME) in Battambang province to raise awareness about education in India and scholarship schemes available to local students.

Following the event, UME president Tun Pheakdey said that the embassy wanted UME students to be more aware of what opportunities are available for Cambodian students in India.

This rise in foreign students in Japan in work comes amid a chronic manpower shortage, according to the Immigration Services Agency.

Last year, a total of 25,942 students switched their residence status in order to land a job in Japan. This is a vast increase from just 3,523 the previous year.

India’s first hybrid learning venture, School of Accelerated Learning (SOAL), has closed its first round of funding of $300,000 with Astarc Ventures as the lead investor.

LiveMint has reported that others investing in the school in this round include tech and start-up leaders Srinivas Kollipara, founder of T-Hub; Ramki Gaddipatti, founder and CTO of Zeta; and Krishnan Menon, founder of BeeCash.

The aims of the School of Accelerated Learning are to nurture students into disruptive, tech-empowered creators and leaders who can enable rapid progress of society.
